Short answer

E-kontakti is a Finnish dating service which, by its own account, has operated since 2009. Creating a profile and keeping it on the site are free; reading and sending messages cost money. Prices as checked on 18 September 2026: two weeks 24,90 €, one month 34,90 €, three months 59,90 € and six months 89,90 € when the profile has a photo. Without a photo the same periods cost 10–13 euros more. Memberships do not renew automatically, and the service says so itself in two separate places. Its terms are not its own but City Digital group terms, and they contain a clause about the right of withdrawal that is worth reading before you pay.

What E-kontakti is and who runs it

E-kontakti is a Finnish-language dating service at e-kontakti.fi. Its front page states: «Kotimainen, luotettava ja turvallinen treffipalsta» and «Jo vuodesta 2009 toimineessa palvelussa on luotu yli 350 000 treffiprofiilia» — a domestic, reliable and safe dating board, running since 2009, with over 350,000 profiles created. That is the service speaking about itself. The number cannot be verified from outside, so we give it as a quotation rather than as a fact: it counts every profile ever created, not how many people are on the site today.

No company name or Finnish business ID is given on e-kontakti.fi itself. The footer link «Käyttöehdot» goes to citydigital.fi/kayttoehdot, and the same is true of the privacy policy and the cookie information. The service therefore has no separate terms document of its own; the City Digital group terms apply. Checked 18 September 2026.

City Digital lists Suomi24, E-kontakti, Treffit24 and Deitti.net among its own brands. In practice this means several Finnish dating services sit under one group. That is neither good nor bad in itself, but it is worth knowing if you think you are comparing competitors with one another.

To be clear from the start: Treffikone is not E-kontakti and is not its representative. This is an independent page, and everything on it was read from the service public pages. We are paid a commission if you sign up through this page, and we say more about that below.

Prices on 18 September 2026 — and the point where a profile without a photo costs more

E-kontakti publishes its price list openly on its support page, so you can see the price before registering. That is not a given in this industry, and it should be counted in the service favour.

The price list has two columns: the same period costs a different amount depending on whether the profile has a photo. A profile with a photo is cheaper. Two weeks costs 24,90 € with a photo and 34,90 € without. One month, 34,90 € or 44,90 €. Three months, 59,90 € or 72,90 €. Six months, 89,90 € or 99,90 €. The gap is ten to thirteen euros depending on the period.

This pricing structure is unusual, and it should be read the right way round: it is not a surcharge for having a photo but a discount for profiles that have one. The logic from the service point of view is obvious — a profile with a photo gets more replies and keeps the site alive. From your point of view it means that if you prefer not to publish a photo, the same access time costs you more. If going without a photo matters to you, read the price from the correct column, not the one you see first.

No other periods appeared in the price list on 18 September 2026. The longest is six months, so there is no annual commitment at all. That favours the user: the shorter the longest available period, the smaller the sum that can go unused.

In fairness, the thing that argues against this service. Suomi24 Treffit is cheaper over the same periods: two weeks 11,95 euros, one month 16,95 euros and three months 32,95 euros, checked on the same day. For a month the gap is close to double. We say so although E-kontakti is our commercial partner and Suomi24 is not — price is material information, and withholding material information is precisely what consumer law forbids. This service advantage comes further down this page, in the section on renewal: there is no rolling subscription at all. Which weighs more depends on which mistake would cost you more. Work out both with the subscription cost calculator.

  • Two weeks: 24,90 € with a photo, 34,90 € without
  • One month: 34,90 € with a photo, 44,90 € without
  • Three months: 59,90 € with a photo, 72,90 € without
  • Six months: 89,90 € with a photo, 99,90 € without

What is free and where the paywall begins

Creating a profile is free, and keeping the profile on the site is free even when you have no paid membership. The service puts it this way: «Jäsenkauden päätyttyä profiilisi säilyy palvelussa, sillä profiilin pitäminen julki on täysin maksutonta» — once the membership period ends your profile stays on the service, because keeping a profile public is entirely free.

The paywall is on messaging. Reading and sending messages costs money. This is the standard structure across the industry, and it is why the word «free» in search results is almost always true only of registration, never of getting in touch.

There was no free trial of the paid features in the price list on 18 September 2026. So if you are looking for a free trial, the answer is: the profile and its visibility are free, messaging is not. What you can check for free before paying is the one thing that matters most — how many people of your age and in your area the search returns. Make a profile, narrow the search and look at the number of results. If that number is small, no price is cheap.

Payment methods listed are online banking, bank and credit cards, invoice and MobilePay. On the invoice option, read one detail carefully: the invoicing partner is Klarna, and the service states that Klarna runs a credit check on every invoice customer. If you would rather not have a credit check, choose another payment method.

Why we do not publish «experiences» of this service

The most common search on this brand name is «e-kontakti kokemuksia» — experiences, meaning reviews. Our answer is direct: we have not used the service and therefore publish no first-hand experience of it. Invented experience is advertising presented as assessment; it is both prohibited and useless to the reader.

What we publish instead is what we can verify and what anyone can verify after us: the price, what the terms say, whether the membership renews, and how to get the profile removed. Those are exactly the things a person is usually after when searching for reviews — they want to know whether they will regret paying.

If you read user reviews elsewhere, keep two things in mind. First, success on a dating site depends heavily on where you live and your age group: the same service can be busy in the capital region and empty in a small town. Second, review sites are often paid for their links, as we are. That does not make a review wrong, but you should know it — and it should be disclosed. We disclose it on this page three times.

The withdrawal clause — the law and the term side by side

This is the most important part of the page, which is why it comes before the affiliate button in the text.

The City Digital terms referenced by the E-kontakti footer state, word for word (read 18 September 2026; the document is dated 18 February 2022): «Tilattu maksullinen Palvelu katsotaan otetuksi Käyttäjän suostumuksella käyttöön välittömästi tilauksen jälkeen, eikä Käyttäjällä ole kuluttajasuojalain mukaista peruutusoikeutta» — an ordered paid service is deemed accepted with the user consent immediately after the order, and the user has no right of withdrawal under consumer protection law.

Chapter 6, section 14 of the Finnish Consumer Protection Act gives a fourteen-day right of withdrawal in distance selling. Section 15 of the same chapter sets out when that right can be lost, and it names three conditions, not one. The act itself reads «edellyttäen, että kuluttaja on tehnyt tätä koskevan nimenomaisen pyynnön ja antanut hyväksyntänsä sille, että hänellä ei ole enää peruuttamisoikeutta sen jälkeen, kun elinkeinonharjoittaja on täyttänyt sopimuksen kokonaisuudessaan» — in English: performance may begin before the withdrawal period ends provided the consumer has made an express request to that effect and has accepted that the right lapses once the trader has performed the contract in full. The act has no official English text, so that rendering is ours.

Note the words in full. A two-week or six-month membership has not been performed in full at the moment the payment goes through. For digital content the act requires, correspondingly, express prior consent and a separate acknowledgment that the right is lost, and further that both appear in the order confirmation.

We are not saying the service breaks the law. That assessment belongs to a court or a supervisory authority, not to a comparison site. We are saying what anyone can read at the same addresses: the terms say there is no right of withdrawal, and the act says the right exists and that losing it requires specific, named conditions.

What this means for you as a reader: a contract term that departs from the provisions of that chapter to the consumer detriment is, in the act own wording, void. In practice: if you believe you are entitled to withdraw, do it in writing within fourteen days, cite chapter 6 of the Consumer Protection Act, and keep a copy of the message. If you get no answer, or an answer you do not accept, the next step is consumer advisory services and after that the Consumer Disputes Board — both free of charge.

One clarification that is fair to the service: withdrawing does not mean you get everything back, and it does not mean you get nothing. The act says that if performance began at your request, you pay a reasonable amount for the part already performed. The rest is refunded. That is the starting point in law regardless of what the terms say.

And here we state our own position for the third and clearest time: E-kontakti is our commercial partner, and we earn a commission if you register through this page. We publish this finding anyway and place it above the affiliate button in the text: on this site the in-text button cannot appear before this section, and that is enforced by code rather than by memory. The ad panel at the right edge or bottom of the screen is labelled as an ad. Withholding material information is exactly what consumer law prohibits — and a comparison that did that would not be worth reading.

Memberships do not renew — what that means in practice

This is E-kontakti clearest strength, and it deserves to be stated as plainly as the previous section.

The service states on its support page, in two separate places, that there is no automatic renewal. First: «Ei, meillä ei ole suoraveloitusta ja kaikki jäsenkautemme ovat määräaikaisia» — we have no direct debit and all our membership periods are fixed-term. And elsewhere: «Kaikki E-kontakti.fin tilaukset ovat määräaikaisia eikä niitä koskaan uusita automaattisesti.» And again: «E-kontakti.fi ei koskaan uusi automaattisesti tilauksia, vaan jokainen jäsen päättää itse, haluaako hän ostaa lisää käyttöaikaa.»

In practice this removes the entire problem that most dating-service complaints are built around. If a subscription is never renewed, you do not have to remember to cancel it, and no charge appears on your account months later. So the correct answer to «how do I cancel E-kontakti» is: there is nothing to cancel, because the period ends by itself.

It is worth putting this in context. In international dating apps a rolling subscription is the rule, and that is exactly where the situation arises in which someone notices a charge only on a bank statement. In Finnish services a fixed period is clearly more common. That is a fact in the Finnish service favour, and it is only fair to say it out loud on the same page where we describe the weaker point in its terms.

One caveat: if you pay by invoice and choose Klarna instalments, you then have two separate things — a membership that has ended and a payment agreement that has not. The second does not end because the first did.

Hiding a profile and deleting it

A profile can be either hidden or deleted. In the service own words: «Voit muuttaa sen niin halutessasi piilotetuksi tai poistaa sen kokonaan» — you can set it to hidden if you wish, or delete it entirely.

The difference matters and the choice should be deliberate. A hidden profile does not appear in searches, but the data is still on the service. A deleted profile is gone. If your reason is that you do not want to be found right now, hiding is enough. If your reason is that you do not want your data held anywhere, choose deletion.

The GDPR additionally gives you a separate right to request erasure of your data, and such a request is best made in writing. This service privacy policy is a shared City Digital document, so the request goes there.

One practical reminder: save your order confirmation and receipt before you delete the profile. After deletion you may no longer be able to retrieve them through the service, and they are exactly what you need if a payment is disputed later.

What to check yourself before you pay

This list is not specific to this service. The same check works on any paid dating site and takes about ten minutes.

  • How many results the search returns in your area and your age range. Do this free of charge before paying.
  • What sum leaves your account today. Look at the total for the period, not the monthly figure.
  • Which of the two price columns applies to you — with a photo or without.
  • Whether the period renews automatically. Here it does not, but always check.
  • What the terms say about withdrawal and what the law says. You now know both.
  • Whether the order confirmation mentions the right of withdrawal. The law requires it, and the confirmation is your evidence.
  • What name the charge shows under on your bank statement. Worth knowing in advance if anyone else sees that statement.
  • How the profile is removed and whether hiding is enough. Decide this before paying, not after.

Frequently asked

How much does E-kontakti cost?

With a photo on the profile: two weeks 24,90 €, one month 34,90 €, three months 59,90 €, six months 89,90 €. Without a photo the same periods are 34,90 €, 44,90 €, 72,90 € and 99,90 €. Checked on 18 September 2026 from the service own price list. Registration and keeping a profile are free; the charge is for messaging.

Does E-kontakti have a free trial?

There was no free trial of the paid features on 18 September 2026. Creating a profile, keeping it and searching are free. Reading and sending messages are paid. Even so, make the free profile first and look at how many results the search returns in your area and age range before you pay.

Is there a discount code or offer for E-kontakti?

We do not hand out discount codes, and we saw none published on the service own pages on 18 September 2026 — the price list was the same for everyone. If some site offers you a code, check the final sum against the service own price list before paying; that is the only figure that binds. The one real way to pay less is to put a photo on the profile, which lowers the price by 10–13 euros depending on the period.

Does the membership renew automatically?

No. The service states this itself in two places: all membership periods are fixed-term, and they are never renewed automatically. There is no direct debit. In practice this means there is nothing to remember to cancel — the period ends on its own and the profile stays on the service free of charge.

How do I cancel E-kontakti?

A fixed-term membership does not need cancelling, because it does not renew. If you want to leave altogether, the profile can be hidden or deleted in the settings. If instead you have just placed an order and want to withdraw from it, that is a different right: do it in writing within fourteen days, cite chapter 6 of the Consumer Protection Act, and keep a copy.

How do I delete my E-kontakti profile?

In the settings the profile can be hidden or deleted entirely; in the service words, you can set it to hidden or delete it completely. A hidden profile does not show in searches but remains on the service; a deleted one is gone. Save your order confirmation and receipt before deleting — you will need them if a payment is disputed later.

Why does a profile without a photo cost more?

The price list has two columns, and the version with a photo is 10–13 euros cheaper depending on the period. The service does not explain the difference in the price list. The practical reason is most likely that profiles with photos get more replies and keep the site active. For you the conclusion is direct: if you prefer not to publish a photo, read the price from the correct column.

E-kontakti or Tinder — which is better?

They are different products and do not compare directly. E-kontakti sells a fixed period with no automatic renewal and its user base is Finnish-speaking. Tinder is free at the basic level and sells rolling subscriptions that renew by themselves until cancelled where they were bought: in the app store or at tinder.com. Two things decide it: which has more people in your own area and age range, and which payment structure suits you. The first can be checked for free on both before you pay either.
