Vantaa in numbers

At the end of 2025 Vantaa had 167 927 residents aged 20–69, and 74 560 of them (44.4 per cent) did not live at the same address as a spouse or cohabiting partner, against 41.9 per cent nationally. That measures living arrangements, not relationships: couples with separate addresses and adults living with their parents are counted, so it is not the number of singles (how we count).

Of the 74 560, 41 037 are men and 33 523 women: 122 men for every 100 women. No other Finnish city with more than 100 000 residents has a higher ratio, and the same holds in the thirties (153), forties (131) and fifties (107). Women outnumber men only among 60–69-year-olds, at 74 men for every 100.

A first language other than Finnish, Swedish or Sámi is registered for 75 683 Vantaa residents, or 29.9 per cent, against 11.4 per cent nationally. The statistic does not show who speaks English.

Meeting people in English in Vantaa

Vantaa Multilingual Guidance (Vantaan monikielinen neuvonta) is the city’s free advice service for multilingual residents, especially newcomers, at Vernissakatu 1 in Tikkurila and Paalutori 3 in Myyrmäki. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays it advises without an appointment in Finnish, Swedish and English; on Tuesdays and Thursdays appointments cover twelve languages, English among them. Topics include “hobbies and leisure time”. The city’s Welcome to Vantaa event for new residents is free, mainly in Finnish, Swedish and English, and next held in 2027; advance registration is required.

The Lutheran parishes list a service in English every Sunday at 12.00 in Tikkurila Church and a monthly Friendship Mass in Finnish and English at Myyrmäki Church (18 October, 8 November and 20 December 2026, 10.00 to 11.30), followed by an International Bible Study Group in Finnish and English. Friends’ Café at Myyrmäki Church (1 and 29 November, 15.00) is an international gathering for everyday and Christian topics, described as a chance to meet new people from different backgrounds and cultures; the parish states no language for it.

Helmet, the joint library service, says language cafés are held at Espoo, Helsinki and Vantaa libraries without enrolment, with Finnish, Swedish, English and Russian as examples. InfoFinland describes the Vantaa cafés as Finnish practice where “people talk in Finnish”. The city’s event calendar did not open on 4 October 2026, so we give no café times.

We found no recurring singles event in Vantaa that states it is held in English on 4 October 2026. For sites and apps that work without Finnish, see dating in Finland as a foreigner.

Where singles meet in Vantaa

Tikkurila parish (Tikkurilan seurakunta) holds regular singles evenings, free of charge, on Fridays in two monthly series. Under-40s meet on 16 October, 13 November and 18 December 2026; working-age people and seniors on 30 October and 4 December 2026, and again from 8 January 2027. The evenings are held in the parish club room at Vehkapolku 10 C (entrance from the church courtyard) or, for seniors, in Tikkurila Church, with coffee and a programme planned by singles and visitors.

The announcement is in Finnish, and the page does not state the language of the evenings. In January 2025 the newspaper Kirkko ja kaupunki reported that 20–30 people usually come, mostly aged 40–60, some from Espoo, Helsinki, Nurmijärvi and Kerava. The Finnish-language calendar sinkkutapahtumat.fi lists several evenings at 18–20.

We found no singles group at the other Vantaa parishes. For nearby cities, see dating in Espoo and the Helsinki dating guide.

Dating apps in Vantaa

Dating apps show people by distance, so the search radius decides whose profiles appear. Among Helsinki residents aged 20–69 who do not live with a partner, women outnumber men (93 men for every 100 women), so a radius reaching Helsinki changes the mix.

Over the last 12 months Uusimaa ranked 8th of 18 regions in Google Trends for the search “tinder” and 13th of 18 for “deitti”, Finnish for a date. A Yle and University of Turku survey found that 53 per cent of adult Finns had at least tried a dating service, and 60 per cent of those who had used one had used Tinder.

Tinder is available in English. The Finnish services we have checked, such as E-kontakti and Deitti.net, have no English interface; dating in Finland as a foreigner covers which work without Finnish, and Tinder: prices, cancelling and refunds covers subscriptions.
