Why we do not verify age

Any real age verification means collecting data: an identity document, an ID number, a payment card or biometrics. For a site that stores nothing about its visitors on principle, that would be a contradiction.

Forms where a single button lets you “confirm you are 18” verify nothing. They create an impression and add a click, so we do not use them.

Instead the site carries a machine-readable marker for adult content. Parental filters, safe search modes and some operators understand such a marker — which means it works exactly where it can actually help.

What is here and what is not

The site contains no sexually explicit images or descriptions. The subject is adult, but the register is businesslike: prices, contract terms, consumer rights, safety and data protection.

The safety texts are written so that a young person caught up in a blackmail situation can read them too — and they include a separate section on what an adult should do in such a situation, with a link to the Nettivihje service.

Affiliate links lead to dating services that, under the services’ own rules, are open from the age of eighteen. The safety and privacy sections carry no affiliate links at all, and that is not a promise but a condition in the code: when a page’s commercial flag is off, the template does not render the button at all.

How to restrict access on a device

If a minor uses the device, setting filtering on the device itself is more effective than relying on individual sites.

On a phone: the operating system’s own parental controls — web content restrictions under Screen Time on iOS, family settings on Android.

In the browser: safe search switched on in the search engine, plus an extension for filtering content.

On the home network: filtering at the router level or through a DNS service with a family filter — this covers every device in the home at once.

The tools ask for no age and for nothing else either: they calculate in the browser and send nothing you enter to a server. The same holds for every page on the site — there is no sign-up here.

And the most effective measure, which has nothing to do with technology: talking. A filter can be worked around in ten minutes of searching online; an understanding of who to turn to when something goes wrong cannot.
